XPONENTIAL 2019 To Host The Inaugural Americas Summit In Chicago

The First Co-Located Event Conducted In English And Spanish Explores Drone Industry Development Across The Americas

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) will host the Americas Summit at XPONENTIAL 2019 on Tuesday, April 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT at McCormick Place in Chicago.

The inaugural Americas Summit is produced by Asociación Profesionales de Drones (APD) and will be conducted in English and Spanish. This first of its kind summit will feature thought leaders from across the continents with expertise in unmanned systems inspection, security, regulation and business. There will be four panel discussions and two featured speakers.

The first panel, “Inspection and Security in LATAM,” will focus on inspection and security and feature the following experts:

  • Angela Jacques, Director, APD Mexico (moderator)
  • Juan Bergelund, Director, APD Peru
  • Martín Martín, Director, APD Argentina, Drones VIP
  • Catalina González, Director, SIA Colombia; Partner-Founder, Transcender Consulting and Training

Tracy Lamb, Vice President of Regulatory and Safety Affairs and Chief Pilot at AUVSI, will follow with a presentation on UAS regulation and the AUVSI Trusted Operator Program (TOP).

The second panel, “Regulatory Challenges in LATAM/North America,” will focus on the regulatory challenges in North and Latin America. Jorge Valenzuela, Co-founder and Director of Operations and Logistics at APD LATAM, will moderate the panel and discussion will be led by Leonor Coco, Co-founder of APD and Business Director at APD LATAM, and Tom McMahon, Senior Vice President of Advocacy and Government Relations at AUVSI.

The third panel, “Connecting the Drone Industry to the Final Client,” will focus on the keys to success in delivering products to customers across markets. Martin Martin, President of APD Argentina, Angela Jacques, President of APD México and Co-founder of FPV Racing Mexico and Think-Air; and Javier Caina, Director of Technical Standards at DJI San Francisco will lead this discussion. Pablo Heredia, President of APD Latinoamérica and APD Colombia, will moderate.

The final panel, “UAV Business Perspectives in Latin America,” will forecast drone business operations, in all domains, for the short and long term. Daniel Conde, Co-founder of APD and Business Director at APD LATAM; and Camilo Gonzalez, Senior Regional Commercial Specialist at the U.S. Department of Commerce at the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, will lead this discussion. The panel will be moderated by Juan Bergelund, President at APD Peru, WeRobotics Peru and UAV del Peru.

The event will conclude with a discussion lead by Pablo Heredia, Director of APD LATAM on the “APD – SIGUAS UAS Management Integral System,” highlighting how an integrated system can be used to generate better, higher quality products for the end customer.
