NASA's Destination Station Exhibit Shares The Wonders Of The ISS

Opens January 24, 2014 At The California Science Center

Destination Station, an exhibit created by NASA showcasing what it's like to live aboard the International Space Station, will open at the California Science Center on January 24 and continue through April 7, 2014. Admission is free.

Destination Station connects guests with their place in space and communicates the real and potential benefits of the ISS on everyday life. Hands-on activities, imagery and audio/visual technology demonstrate to visitors life aboard a microgravity laboratory. They will also learn how the space station operates as the result of a peaceful international partnership of five space agencies representing 16 countries.

Destination Station is NASA's national awareness campaign to inform and energize the public about the discoveries produced by the International Space Station. Orbiting 260 miles above Earth, the space station is the largest spacecraft ever built. It is an official U.S. National Laboratory where astronauts and scientists from around the world conduct experiments in a microgravity environment on human health, life and physical science, earth and space science, as well as technologies for enabling future exploration.

The California Science Center is a dynamic destination where families, adults and children can explore the wonders of science through interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, innovative programs and awe-inspiring films. Its mission is as follows: "We aspire to stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone by creating fun, memorable experiences, because we value science as an indispensable tool for understanding our world, accessibility and inclusiveness, and enriching people's lives."
