Airplane Represents Fifth Overall Wide-Body Completion Project
Associated Air Center (AAC), has delivered its first green Airbus A330-200 VVIP wide-body aircraft completion project for a prominent customer. The project included a full cabin (nose-to-tail) customization equipped with high speed data, high definition In-Flight Entertainment (IFE), a comprehensive sound insulation package, stand-up shower, full cooking and food preparation, forward and aft galleys and complete interior zonal drier and humidification system. The end customer took delivery of the aircraft from AAC’s Dallas Hangar and departed via Love Field on September 23.
In its more than 66 years of operations, AAC has performed dozens of narrow-body projects as well as four wide-body Boeing 747 and 767 projects. This was the first Airbus wide-body project completed by the company and the fifth overall. AAC’s re-emergence into the wide-body VVIP market has been strong for the past three years and currently the company is working on both a 747-8 program and its first 787 completion in Dallas. Even with the two wide-body aircraft in its facilities, AAC has plenty of capacity to take on additional projects, including narrow and wide-body completions as well as maintenance, repair and overhaul services.
“The A330-200 was a very large and complex completion program,” said James Colleary, President of AAC. “As part of the process, we added staff and expanded our current facilities to accommodate this and future wide-bodies. There were many engineering challenges and customer revisions throughout the process but our employees delivered and we have returned a safe and beautiful aircraft to a very happy customer.”
