Airport Has Been Exempted From Mandatory Evacuation Order To Allow Operations To Continue
Myrtle Beach Airport (KMYR) will remain open during Hurricane Florence, according to airport and county officials. The airport is exempt from the mandatory evacuation order. This exemption will enable air carriers to continue to operate. It is anticipated commercial carriers will continue to operate in and out of MYR as long as conditions for flight operations remain safe and airline and TSA staffing levels are able to accommodate flights.
However, airlines may or may not operate. If your airline is operating, and you have a confirmed reservation, it is suggested that you arrive at the Airport a minimum of two-hours prior your flights scheduled departure time, if not earlier. The Airport is anticipating longer than normal wait-times at airline check-in and TSA checkpoint processing.
Prior coming to the Airport verify your flight status with your airlines, do not call the Airport. If you have flight reservations verify that your airline has your cell phone number and/or email address; your air carrier will notify you directly of flight changes. If you have questions about airline re-booking and/or cancellation policies visit your respective air carrier’s website
Prior coming to the Airport please verify your flight status. As a reminder the Airport is not an evacuation shelter.
Hurricane Florence is expected to make landfall along the North Carolina coast south of the Outer Banks. Hurricane watches were posted for the entire North and South Carolina coasts on Tuesday. Florence is a major category 4 hurricane the sustained winds of 130 miles per hour recorded Tuesday.
