Greenville Slated For New Tower

FAA Springs For New Control Facility At Donaldson Center Airport

There's something new on the horizon for Donaldson Center Airport near Greenville (SC). The FAA has alloted more than $306,000 for a new control tower. The announcement came from Senator Fritz Hollings, senior Democrat on the Senate Commerce Committee. Commerce oversees the FAA.

"Every improvement to our state's airports helps to attract more business, which ultimately aids economic development," Hollings said.

Donaldson Center is South Carolina's biggest GA airport. The Greenville News reports the 2,600 facility is home to more than 70 corporate operations, including Lockheed Martin and Stevens Aviation. More than 80 aircraft call Donaldson Center home.
