Delta Cuts Song Service

Almost A Third Of Song Flights To Be Suspended In September

Delta's experiment in discount transportation may not be working out according to plan. Song Airlines will cut about a third of its flights in September, as its parent company hopes to avoid Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Song will discontinue 41 of its 140 flights, according to the Wall Street Journal. A spokeswoman for Song told the Journal that the cutbacks were "nothing unusual" -- that the aircraft were being hangared for scheduled maintenance.

At this point, Delta says the flights will be reinstituted in October. But a spokesman for the Atlanta-based airline wasn't available for comment.

The flights that will be put on hiatus come September are generally cross-country routes. They include Los Angeles to Tampa, Florida, and Los Angeles to Orlando, Florida, according to the Journal.
