Boeing Certifies ACSS’s NXT-800 Transponder For 777

Offers ADS-B Out Capability To Meet 2020 Mandate

ACSS, an L-3 & Thales Company, announced today that Boeing has certified its NXT-800 Mode S transponder for Boeing 777 airplanes. The NXT-800 offers the most advanced level of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Out transmission required to meet the approaching global mandates for ADS-B Out capability.

Optimized for flight in the NextGen air traffic environment, the NXT-800 transponder transmits own-ship flight parameters to other aircraft and air traffic control (ATC). The transmission of DO-260B-level ADS-B Out information provides more precise flight data, including position, speed and intent of the aircraft. The NXT-800 and NXT-600 received Technical Standard Order (TSO) authorization in 2014.

“With the completion of this airframe certification, ACSS now offers the NXT-800 for Boeing 737, 767 and 777 aircraft in both forward-fit and retrofit applications,” said Terry Flaishans, president of ACSS. “We are proud to continue to lead the way with the installation of certified ADS-B Out products for airlines and OEMs ahead of the approaching mandates.”

ADS-B Out mandates require all affected aircraft categories operating in the U.S. to be equipped with compliant Mode S transponders by no later than January 2020. New aircraft flying in Europe must be equipped by June 2016 and all in-service aircraft categories that are impacted need to be upgraded by June 2020.
