Airbus Americas Hangs Out The 'Help Wanted' Sign In Alabama

Seeking Manufacturing Engineers For Mobile Assembly Line

Airbus is seeking manufacturing engineers for its assembly line in Mobile, Alabama. The positions are the first manufacturing-related jobs announced for the company’s U.S. aircraft assembly line.

The company is hiring 10 manufacturing engineers in the fields of Electrical, Mechanical, System and Cabin. Eight employees will begin their roles in November 2013, and two in January 2014. Successful candidates will receive their training with the Airbus manufacturing teams in Hamburg, Germany; Toulouse, France; and possibly Tianjin, China before returning to Mobile.

Manufacturing engineers are responsible for managing non-conformities/design deviation and late changes to support aircraft production. They answer technical questions, prepare new modifications for country-specific constraints and explain work orders and drawings, especially for electrical, mechanical, systems or cabin related items.

On July 2, 2012, Airbus announced it is building an assembly line for its A320 Family of aircraft in Mobile. The groundbreaking for the assembly line was April 8, 2013, and major construction begins this summer. Hiring for manufacturing jobs will continue into 2014.

When available, open positions for employment at the Mobile Assembly Line will be posted online.
