Former Phillies Pitcher Reported Down In C172 Crash

Was One Of Four People Involved in Accident at 6400' MSL Location

A GA accident has taken the life of a Former Major League baseball player and three others. The aircraft went down in wooded terrain in the Granite Flats Campground Area, Box Elder Peak, Utah. The airplane, a Cessna 172M Skyhawk, N6929H, was destroyed during the accident sequence and the four occupants onboard were fatally injured. Air Canada is indefinitely suspending service on 30 domestic regional routes and closing eight stations at regional airports in Canada. MH-60 Jayhawk Helicopter Aircrew From Air Station Elizabeth City Affect Rescue

The Coast Guard medevaced a 41-year-old male who suffered a laceration on his leg while aboard a 25-foot vessel located 34 miles off Oregon Inlet, Friday afternoon. Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders received the distress call on VHF channel 16, and Coast Guard Cutter Nathan Bruckenthal, who was seven miles away from the distressed vessel, also overheard the transmission. Sector North Carolina watchstanders launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City to respond, and the crew of the Nathan Bruckenthal self-diverted to assist.

FLIR Systems Inc. will deliver dozens of its SkyRaider UAS to the United States Marine Corps after being awarded a $10 million contract. The FLIR R80D SkyRaider is FLIR’s most advanced military UAS. Developed for U.S. defense and federal government customers, the UAS is equipped with long-range, high-resolution EO/IR imaging sensors that provide day and night situational awareness. For forward resupply, asset extraction, and other specialized missions, SkyRaider can carry and deliver external loads up to 4.4 pounds. Boeing has completed its 12th COVID-19 transport mission, using a Boeing Dreamlifter to bring personal protective equipment (PPE) to the United States. Pilot Reported No Mechanical Malfunctions Or Failures With The Airplane

The pilot stated that he intended to make a full-stall, 3-point, landing in the tailwheel-equipped airplane with a right crosswind. The pilot stated that the airplane touched down on the right main landing gear and tailwheel, followed by the left main landing gear. He maintained full right aileron input during the landing roll; however, when the airplane had decelerated to about 10 knots, he lost directional control and the airplane ground looped to the right. The airplane's left aileron and left wing rear spar were substantially damaged during the accident.
