Record-Setting: Gulfstream G150 Sets Three New City-Pair Speed Records

A Gulfstream G150 bizjet has established three new city-pair speed records, connecting Los Angeles to Maui, Hawaii; Maui to Las Vegas; and Las Vegas to Savannah.

Piloted by Michael Jarrett, Gulfstream international demonstration captain, and Chip King, Gulfstream senior production test pilot, the first G150 record flight, lasting 5 hours and 24 minutes, took off from Los Angeles at 8:25 a.m. (local time) on July 11. With four passengers onboard, the new wide-cabin G150 flew 2,204 nm at an average cruise speed of .79 Mach into headwinds of 50 knots. The G150 landed at 10:54 a.m. (local time) with 1,850 pounds of fuel remaining.

Pilots Jarrett and King flew all legs of the flights.

During the same trip, the G150 broke an eight-year-old city-pair national speed record by 20 minutes, flying 1,900 nautical miles between Jacksonville, Fla, and Los Angeles in 4 hours, 15 minutes.

Introduced in 2002, the G150 can accommodate six to eight passengers comfortably. The first G150 business jet completed its first flight on May 3, 2005. The G150 received type certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of Israel and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration on Nov. 7, 2005, and was delivered to its first customer on August 14, 2006. Gulfstream has submitted an application to the National Aeronautic Association to confirm the new records.
