Corporate Angel Network Recognizes County, HPN

Westchester County Donates CAN Office Space

The National Business Aviation Association told ANN this week the Corporate Angel Network (CAN) will recognize Westchester County and its airport for their support in the donation of the organization's office space for nearly 25 years.

The recognition will take place on April 26, during NBAA's Business Aviation Regional Forum in White Plains, NY.

The mission of CAN is to arrange transport for cancer patients to specialized treatment or clinical trials using empty seats on business aircraft.

Founded 25 years ago, CAN has grown to include 530 participating companies, five paid staff and  50 part-time volunteers who work with patients, physicians, flight departments and leading treatment centers to coordinate the medical travel needs of cancer patients with the scheduled flight activity of participating businesses.

So far, CAN has arranged more than 25,000 flights and averages about 200 patient flights a month.

"CAN's ability to provide our service at no charge is due in large measure to the generosity of the people at the airport and surrounding Westchester County," said CAN Executive Director Peter Fleiss. "CAN greatly appreciates the ongoing support of the county, and in particular the generosity of County Executive Andy Spano."

Fleiss will be joined by NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen and Westchester Aviation Association President Jeff Lee in presenting a plaque to Spano, who is scheduled to accept the award on behalf of the airport.

"The Corporate Angel Network provides an outstanding service to people battling cancer," said Bolen. "NBAA Member Companies have long supported CAN's efforts, and we are pleased to take part in the organization's recognition of the people at Westchester County Airport and in the surrounding community."
