Sandel Introduces 4-in. EHSI and EADI Display Systems

New 4x4 Displays Offer Affordable Modular Technology Update

Sandel Avionics has introduced two advanced 4-in. cockpit displays, the SN4500 4x4 EHSI and the SA4500 4x4 EADI, which provide operators of turbine-class aircraft with a modular technology update for aging electromechanical units.

Incorporating the company's SandelSmart I/OTM for ready compatibility with virtually all analog or digital aircraft, the SN4500 and SA4500 offer an easy-to-install aftermarket update, adding affordable moving map functionality and an enhanced, highly readable attitude display. In addition, Sandel's modular display concept provides the option of continuing to use serviceable avionics while adding a new EHSI or EADI—units may be installed separately or in tandem—to make older aircraft safer, more functional and easier to fly, while saving on acquisition and installation costs.

Similar to the proven displays found in the newest generation of aircraft, the SN4500 4x4 EHSI and SA4500 4x4 EADI yield bright, 360-degree readability (180 degrees in both horizontal and vertical axes) and unequaled sunlight visibility. Among the SN4500 EHSI's many features are multiple HSI navigation modes; an intuitive pilot interface; and a full range of navigation and safety sensor interfaces, including weather radar and traffic data. The SA4500 EADI replaces outdated electromechanical attitude director indicators with a bright, highly readable attitude display, in either single-cue or split-cue annunciation formats. Both the SN4500 EHSI and SA4500 EADI incorporate a long-life backlight for high reliability and low cost of ownership.

"These advanced displays for turbine-class aircraft are a natural extension of our philosophy that the latest technology should be made available to all classes and types of aircraft, to make flying safer and more enjoyable for everybody," said Gerry Block, Sandel's President. "And we specifically designed these displays to be modular, because modular systems offer pilots and aircraft owners the flexibility to add new technology and capabilities in the most convenient and affordable format."
