Woman On US Airways Flight Allegedly Attacks Crew

Flight Attendant Said She Appeared Intoxicated, Refused Her Alcohol

A woman who was on a US Airways flight from Charlotte, NC to Fort Myers, FL earlier this week is facing three counts of battery and one  count of interfering with an aircraft after allegedly attacking a flight attendant who refused to serve her a drink.

Peggy S. Albedhady-Sanchez of Union City, NJ, allegedly kicked and spat on a female FA during the flight, according to the Associated Press. The 50-year-old woman was "apparently intoxicated" and was refused additional alcohol, according to the Lee County (FL) Sheriff's report released Wednesday.

Television Station WWBT in Richmond, VA, reported that the woman was met by police at the airport. She was reportedly screaming and crying as she was taken away. Passengers said they observed the FA with a bandage on her arm. The woman was reportedly subdued and physically restrained in the back of the airplane until it arrived in Ft. Myers.

The Jersey Journal reports that her family says that a combination of alcohol and medication she takes may have caused the situation. The paper also reports she was "distraught" over the loss of a loved one.

Sanches remains in custody, and may face federal charges.
