Enola Gay Pilot To Recount Experiences At AirVenture 2004

Paul Tibbets To Speak At Theater In The Woods

The Experimental Aircraft Association will host famous World War II pilot and leader, Paul Tibbets, at the 52nd annual EAA AirVenture fly-in, July 27-August 2, at the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh (WI).

Tibbets will visit AirVenture on Tuesday, July 27 and Wednesday, July 28, with a presentation scheduled for Tuesday night's Theater in the Woods program.

Tibbets piloted the B-29 Superfortress bomber "Enola Gay," which dropped the first atomic bomb over Japan in August 1945, hastening the end of the war.

His love of flying -- beginning at the age of 12 and continuing through 29 and a half years of service in the US Army Air Corps and Air Force, as well as 15 years with the Executive Jet Aviation -- has impacted aviation history with a legacy of dedication and leadership.

Tibbets was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame in 1996 and has received numerous other awards and decorations for his contributions to aviation.
