Ed Bolen Placed Among Dozen Appointees Mapping the Future of Advanced Aviation
NBAA chief Ed Bolen has been selected as one of 12 new appointees to the FAA’s Advanced Aviation Advisory Committee (AAAC).
The committee is a recent development in the march towards widespread UAS and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) aircraft throughout the civil airspace system. The AAAC was put into place thanks to recent NBAA-bolstered legislation aimed at laying the necessary groundwork needed for the introduction of new technologies at such a scale.
“AAM and UAS hold tremendous promise, but it’s extremely important that we bring these aircraft to market safely, and with full consideration of community concerns,” Bolen said. “I am honored to be selected to participate in the AAAC and I appreciate DOT Secretary Buttigieg and FAA Acting Administrator Nolen for giving me the opportunity to bring a business aviation perspective to these issues.”
“We have an opportunity in front of us that is going to require a lot of coordination, communication and collaboration,” Bolen added. “Through the AAAC, we can approach issues in the interest of all stakeholders, address questions upfront and mitigate potential concerns while these emerging technologies are still in development.”
Others on the AAAC includes Jeffrey Keith Antonio Brown from the Port of Seattle; Kevin Cox of Ferrovial Vertiports; Karthik Duraisamy, from Geminus.AI; Amit Ganjoo from ANRA Technologies; James Grimsley of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma; Andrew LeBovidge from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association; Okeoma Moronu of Zipline; Melissa Tomkiel of Blade Air Mobility; James Viola of the Helicopter Association International and Yolanka Wulff from the Community Air Mobility Initiative.
