Will Manufacture Javelin At Front Range Airport
Aviation Technology Group (ATG)
announced Tuesday that its executives have decided to build a
manufacturing plant at Front Range Airport in Adams County,
Colorado.
"ATG is pleased to report that we have signed contracts to lease
two buildings located at Front Range Airport," said Will Schippers,
ATG’s CFO. "These buildings will be interim facilities until
we build permanent production facilities currently planned for
2009."
ATG will lease 56,000 square feet at Front Range Airport. The
first building, a 21,600 square foot facility, will be used by ATG
Flight Operations to manufacture four conforming Javelin aircraft
and will serve as test facility headquarters. The adjacent building
will be used to assemble production aircraft. ATG anticipates
production of up to 10 planes at a time in the 34,400 square foot
facility. When production reaches full capacity for these
facilities, ATG expects to have hired up to 150 new employees.
"We were very thorough in our site selection process, working
with many states around the country," said George Bye, Chairman and
CEO of ATG. "Front Range offered availability of space and superior
airport facilities that helped make our decision."
"ATG manufacturing their airplane out of the Front Range Airport
brings us another step closer to meeting our goal of expanding the
aerospace industry in Colorado," said Jane Norton, Lt. Governor of
Colorado. "The economic impact is also significant for us due to
the expectation for a notable amount of the aircraft to be sold
both nationally and internationally."
"As an aviator and member of the Front Range Airport Authority,
an announcement to establish ATG's manufacturing facility at the
Front Range Airport is what I have hoped to hear for some time,"
said Larry Pace, Adams County Commissioner and Chairman of Front
Range Airport Authority (FRAA). "The industrial buffer around the
airport makes this an outstanding location for manufacturing and an
ideal place to do business. We welcome the new jobs and the
strength of this company to Adams County."
ATG builds a high speed, high performing, military looking jet
called the Javelin. The Javelin VLJ features lightweight turbofan
engines and an ergonomic design. Slated for first deliveries in
late 2007, the Javelin’s two-seater design is unique to the
VLJ market that usually seat four or more. ATG is also expanding
the Javelin platform to include a military trainer.
