A China Airlines 747-400F made a show out of its taxiing this past week, as the Flight CI5240 appeared to cut a corner a little too wide, passing its left wing over and through a number of waiting baggage carts. The plane's engine number 1 sucked in a cart, and the left side of the aircraft was damaged. Engines 1 and 2, the gear door, and the engine cowling all came out the other side of the turn worse for wear. The Chicago O'Hare had received more than 3 inches of snow on the night of the incident, with some portions of Illinois seeing more than 10 inches total. Union Chief Says Constant Last-Minute, NOTAM-based 5G Restrictions are "No Way to Run a Railroad"

The head of the Airline Pilots Association, Joe DePete, testified before the Aviation Subcommittee of the US House to reiterate the effects of 5G services - and their hodgepodge responses - on the airline industry. In his address to lawmakers, he described the FCC's response as a "stove-piped approach", referring to the smattering of temporary fixes aimed at buying time for a coherent, long-term solution. Under the banner of his organization, DePete issued a series of recommendations aimed at resolving similar issues going forward, such as increasing the FAA's efforts to stay up-to-date with changes in the national frequency spectrum and requirin

FAA Reminds Drone Pilots of Game Day Ban

FAA Reminds Operators that Super Bowl LVI is a "No Drone Zone"

As this year's big game approaches, the FAA has issued a series of warnings and advisories for prospective onlookers hoping to angle a view of their own, whether they're flying manned aircraft near the stadium or operating a UAV from afar. The SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California is a No Drone Zone for Super Bowl LVI, with drone operations prohibited in a 30-nautical-mile radius of the stadium up to 18,000 feet. The widespread Temporary Flight Restriction for all aircraft goes into effect the afternoon of February 13, and is expected to last until at least 20:30 with possible extensions for game duration. Drones received their own ban for one nautical mile and up to 3,000 feet in

Whitish replied that CubCrafters was in the right place at the right time in 2008 when they brought out their Carbon Cub. He said it proved to be the right product for the recreational market and they have continued to grow since that time. He pointed out that while i

AD: Airbus SAS Airplanes

AD 2022-01-08 Prompted By Reports Of Incorrect Installation Of The Fire Shut-Off Valves (FSOV) Actuator

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Airbus SAS Model A300 series airplanes; Airbus SAS Model A300 B4-600, B4-600R, and F4-600R series airplanes, and Model A300 C4-605R Variant F airplanes (collectively called Model A300-600 series airplanes); and Airbus SAS Model A310 series airplanes. Aero-News: Quote of the Day (02.04.22)

"Unauthorized 135 operations continue to be a problem nationwide, putting the flying public in danger, diluting safety in the national airspace system, and undercutting the business of legitimate operators... (two main pillars of misunderstanding remain) "the misuse and/or misunderstanding of expense sharing between pilots and passengers, and the apparent lack of understanding of pilot privileges and limitations versus operating rules." Source: In a follow on to a May 2020 informational pilot letter, amid a continuing operation to address unlawful and illegal air charter operations, the FAA has published an infographic for use at airports throughout the airport system.
