Joins ACSS On "Avionics Campus"
L-3 Communications
Avionics Systems (L-3 Avionics), a subsidiary of L-3 Communications
Corporation, announced last week that it has expanded its business
operations by opening a unique facility and key talent center in
Phoenix, AZ. The new location creates an "avionics campus" located
near Aviation Communication and Surveillance Systems (ACSS), a
joint-venture of L-3 Communications & Thales Company.
"Engineering excellence is key to the future of our company,"
said Adrienne Stevens, president of L-3 Avionics. "Although we
recruit nationally for each of our locations, Phoenix offers an
excellent talent pool of engineers and other important resources
that will create a competitive advantage and will enable continued
growth for our division. Instead of asking them to come to us, we
went to them."
"We are very pleased that L-3 Avionics is joining the rapidly
expanding community of major employers in North Phoenix," said
Phoenix Councilwoman Peggy Neely, who represents the area where L-3
Avionics is located. "High-technology businesses like L-3 are
a key component to the employment growth we are pursuing throughout
our city. Employers continue to recognize that this area has
superb amenities and a great quality of life."
L-3 Avionics develops and manufactures advanced cockpit avionics
for the general aviation, business jet, air transport and military
markets and is headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI. Other locations
include facilities in Columbus, OH and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The
company employs more than 600 people across its four locations.
L-3 Avionics was founded more than 40 years ago as the avionics
company for Learjet aircraft. Since then, it has become known for
producing avionics safety technologies such as the GH-3000
electronic and J.E.T. standby instrumentation,
SkyWatch traffic collision avoidance systems (TCAS),
LandMarkTM terrain awareness warning systems (TAWS) and
Stormscope weather mapping systems.
