Lawsuit Filed In 2015 Incident Involving United Airlines Employee

Video Shows 71-Year-Old Passenger Being Knocked To The Ground

A lawsuit has been filed against United Airlines by a passenger who claims he was shoved to the ground by a United Airlines employee at Bush Intercontinental Airport in 2015, and there is surveillance video of the incident to support his case.

The passenger, Ronald Tinger, was 71 years old when the incident occurred. Business Insider reports that according to his attorney William Hoke, Tinger tried to reach an agreement with United shortly after the incident occurred, but was unable to come to terms with the airline.

Tinger claims he was knocked unconscious when he hit the floor.

The video was recently aired by television station KPRC. Hoke told the Huffington Post that his client's main concern was "getting his story out there so the traveling public knows about this, and instead of talking about core values, (United) will actually do something to stop it."

In a statement, United said that it has seen the video, and agrees that the behavior by the employee was "completely unacceptable."

"This employee was terminated from United in August 2015 following the incident," the airline said in its statement. "The conduct shown here does not reflect our values or our commitment to treat all of our customers with respect and dignity. We are taking a thorough look into what happened here and reaching out to our customer to profusely apologize for what occurred and to make this right."
