Bell Helicopter Executive Named Distinguished Alumni Fellow By Alma Mater

Kansas State University College Of Engineering Honors Mitch Snyder

Mitch Snyder, Bell Helicopter's executive vice president of global military business, has been selected as a 2015 Alumni Fellow for the Kansas State University College of Engineering. Snyder is a 1983 graduate of K-State and has served on the Bell Helicopter executive leadership team since April of 2011.

“Mitch was selected as a K-State Alumni Fellow based on his high level of professional accomplishment and distinguished service throughout his career in the aerospace industry,” said Andrea Bryant Gladin, K-State Alumni Association director of alumni programs and organizer of the Alumni Fellows program.

In his current role, Snyder leads the Bell Helicopter Military Business organization and is responsible for providing strategic direction, overall management and performance for all government programs. Prior to his current assignment, he was Vice President, Program Director for the V-22 program where he was responsible for Bell Helicopter’s commitments for the design, development, production and sustainment of the V-22.

“It’s a great honor to be named an Alumni Fellow at Kansas State University,” said Snyder. “It is a true privilege to be recognized in this manner. I’d like to thank Kansas State University and specifically the College of Engineering for this. I’ve been working in the aerospace industry for over three decades, and have been fortunate to be able to apply my knowledge to some great aircraft that help complete important missions. The key credential that has enabled all of this has been my engineering degree from K-State.”

The K-State Alumni Fellows Program, sponsored by the Deans Council, the President's Office and the Alumni Association, recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers. Since 1983, the program has brought successful alumni back to campus to meet with students and faculty and share their expertise in the classroom and at informal settings.

Fellows are chosen by each college to return as distinguished guests and as mentors, friends and counselors. They are honored in recognition of the ultimate measure of a university – not curricula, facilities or programs, but the quality of its alumni. Snyder visited the Kansas State university campus, spoke with Engineering students and participated in guest lectures.
