Midwest LSA Expo Set For September 7-9

Event Planned For Mt. Vernon Outland Airport In Mt. Vernon, IL

Midwest LSA Expo is “The Place to be for Sport Aviation This September,” according to the event's organizers. Many  Light Sport Aircraft will be on display, including Part 103, STOL and Gyroplanes on one easily accessible and demo-friendly flightline.

Visitors can shop for the latest in aviation gadgets and services or sit in one of the many informative seminars/forums presented by the best in the industry. Best of all, its free to enter the expo, park and camp.

The Forum/Seminar lineup includes:

  • BasicMed, Dr. Gregory Ostrom, AME
  • The Future of LSA, Dan Johnson, LAMA President
  • The Future of Aviation Fuels, Chris D’ Acosta, Swift Fuels
  • ADS-B, Dennis Jarman, Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Aeronautics

And many more.

The Expo will also feature a Patch Lee concert Thursday afternoon, and a "Global War on Terrorism" remembrance on Saturday.

The organizers of the event point out that New Light Sport Aircraft are roughly one third the cost of legacy training/recreational aircraft such as the Cessna Skyhawk and Piper Cherokee. A Sport Pilot License is approximately 50% of the cost of the traditional Private Pilot License. Although Light Sport Aircraft have some restrictions, such a no more than two seats and daytime operation only, they offer some great benefits like incredible fuel efficiency and generally newer technology such as glass cockpits.

Many traditionally trained pilots can fly Light Sport Aircraft using only their driver’s license as certification they are healthy – allowing many an opportunity to continue flying.

The event will be held September 7 - 9, 2017 at Mt. Vernon Outland Airport (KMVN), Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
