P&W/Shanghai Marks Milestone Delivery

Center Has Delivered First Engine To Asia-Pacific Region

Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners' Shanghai Engine Center recently delivered its first overhauled CFM56 engine to Jetstar Pacific Airlines. The engine is the first the center has delivered to an overseas customer in the Asia Pacific region.

Tom Hutton, Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners VP, calls the delivery a significant achievement. "The engine was delivered with improved performance within 57 days and further solidifies our commitment to provide our customers world-class services with high quality and efficiency at a competitive cost."

The Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners Shanghai Engine Center exists to help reduce engine overhaul costs and turnaround times. Pratt & Whitney, together with joint venture partner China Eastern Airlines, opened the high-tech facility in 2009. It is Pratt & Whitney's first engine center in China and is part of the company's Global Service Partners network providing engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services to customers worldwide.

The company says the quarter-million-square-foot facility meets the platinum standards of the United States Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system.

Based in Ho Chi Minh City, Jetstar Pacific Airlines is Vietnam's first low-cost carrier. It is a joint venture airline of Pacific Airlines of Vietnam and Jetstar Australia.
