Industry Leaders To Weigh In On Hot-Button Issue
User fees are coming to Oshkosh.
Not to worry, though -- it won't cost you anything to land at
Wittman Field, nor will controllers handling the heavy influx of
traffic ask to verify your credit card information before clearing
you to land on the red dot.
Instead, the EAA, GAMA, and several big names in the general
aviation community have teamed up to offer a forum on Tuesday, July
25 at 11:30 am CDT to offer a variety of opinions and a wealth of
insight into this hot-button issue.
As regular readers of Aero-News know... there is no more
contentious issue facing general aviation pilots right now, than
the question of user fees -- proposed charges for ATC services such
as flight service, and GA use of larger airports.
Attendees at Tuesday's forum will hear these panelists weigh in
on the FAA reauthorization/user fee debate -- and address the
general aviation community's unified position on this issue
- Ed Bolen -- President & CEO, National
Business Aviation Association
- Phil Boyer -- President, Aircraft Owners &
Pilots Association
- Pete Bunce -- President & CEO, General
Aviation Manufacturers Association
- Alan Klapmeier -- President & CEO, Cirrus
Design Corporation
- Jack Pelton -- Chairman, President & CEO,
Cessna Aircraft Company and Chairman, General Aviation
Manufacturers Association
The forum will be moderated by EAA President Tom Poberezny.
As Aero-News reported last
month, the latest motion by the FAA and the Air
Transport Association to impose user fees seems to be stalled for
the moment, due to the long list of questions the GAO had for those
entities' proposals.
But the user fee debate WILL be back... and when it fires up
once again, GA will be ready.
