T-45 Down At NAS Pensacola

Both Pilots Stable Following Training Accident

The two aircrew aboard a U.S. Navy T-45C Goshawk aircraft that crashed Monday morning at Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL. are stable and are being treated at a local hospital. At approximately 1030 CST Monday, a U.S. Navy T-45C Goshawk aircraft crashed at the approach end of a runway at the base.

The training aircraft, assigned to Training Squadron 86, crashed while attempting to land at NAS Pensacola. It was returning to the base from a local training flight.

The Navy said the names of the pilots are being withheld for privacy reasons. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

The Navy Times reports that, according to Navy spokesman Lt. John Supple, it is the first training accident since May 20, 2012. Supple said in that accident, a student and instructor ejected from a T-45C 45 miles southwest of NAS Kingsville in Texas.
