Boeing Fires Back

Files Countersuit Against Lockheed

Boeing is lashing out at its main rival for the nation's military business, countersuing Lockheed-Martin in a case of industrial espionage.

The suit, filed in Orlando (FL) federal court, comes a year after Lockheed accused Boeing in court of stealing secrets related to Air Force missile launch contracts. Boeing initially won most of the launch contracts. But last year, the Air Force awarded about $1 billion worth of the Boeing contracts to Lockheed after the industrial espionage scandal broke.

In the lawsuit, according to the Los Angeles Times, Boeing accuses its rival of engaging in an "unfair and wrongful effort to shift the blame for its own business failings." The Times also reports Boeing accuses Lockheed of "extensive" misconduct -- including stealing a few secrets of its own.

When asked about the countersuit, Lockheed spokesman Tom Jurkowsky called it "offensive."
