Texas Man Charged After Shooting At Neighbor's Drone

Said He Was 'Protecting His Property' From The Aircraft

These stories are only going to get more and more common. Someone takes offence at a drone flying anywhere near their property and decides that they can shoot it down.

This time, the incident occurred in Travis County, Texas. Troy Lamb. 71, took some shots with a shotgun at a drone he said was flying over his property. The neighbor who actually owned the drone called the police, saying someone was shooting a gun near his house, and the shotgun pellets were falling on his back porch.

Television station KXAN reports that court records indicated that Lamb shot at the drone three times. He said he was shooting at the aircraft as a "means of protecting his own property." His confession, and the tree spent shotgun shells in his pocket, led to a charge of criminal mischief.

The report does not indicated how badly the drone was damaged. It did place the value of the aircraft at about $1,500.
