Casting A Shadow On The Moon, For Money

Company Says Lunar Advertising Is Coming

This seems to be just a little bit out there ... literally. A company says new shadow shaping technology is being developed to create images on the moon that can be seen from Earth. Robots would be used to create several small ridges in the lunar dust over large areas that capture shadows and shape them to form logos, domains names, memorials or even portraits.

Artists Conception

And its all about advertising. Moon Publicity says the ads could potentially reach every person on the planet. Six billion people looking at your logo in the sky for several days every month. And since there is no atmosphere on the Moon, the images could last for thousands of years.

"Finally dependency on government to travel beyond Earth is over," says inventor David Kent Jones. "This new commercial incentive will turbo charge space technology development. Shadows are just the beginning; eventually robots will be planting crops on other planets."

No word on whether you might get a refund on your ad if the nights of the full moon are cloudy.
