NTSB To Hold Hearings On Pinnacle Mishap

Why Did CRJ-200's Engines Flame Out At 41,000 Feet?

The NTSB will begin three days of public hearings in Jefferson City, MO, next month, aimed at finding out why a Pinnacle Air CRJ-200 suffered a double-flameout at 41,000 and crashed into a residential neighborhood.

As ANN reported last November, the NTSB found air traffic controllers had asked what the aircraft was doing at its maximum altitude, the flight crew said, "We don't have any passengers on board, so we decided to have a little fun and come up here."

The crash, three miles south of the Jefferson City Airport, killed both crewmembers.

Among the witnesses in the June hearing are executives from Bombardier, engine-maker GE and Pinnacle Airlines.
