Piper Warrior II/III and Archer II/III Approved For 91 Octane MoGas

Petersen Aviation, Inc. has announced that their auto fuel STC for the Piper PA-28 series has been amended to include the Cadet, Warrior II & III (file photo below) and Archer II & III.

Newer PA-28's with 12 or 24 volt electrical systems may now take advantage of an STC previously limited to older 12 volt models. The amendment closes the gap between PA-28's built in the 1970's and 1980's and more recently produced airplanes. Once modified, these airplanes may use 91 octane (minimum) automotive gasoline.

This STC has proven to be a popular one for both flight schools and individuals. It has been especially well received outside the US where prices for both avgas and automotive gas are two to three times higher than in the US.

Modifications include the installation of redundant electric fuel pumps and installation of revised fuel system plumbing made from steel and stainless steel fittings. 24 volt airplanes also require the installation of voltage converters and accompanying wiring looms.

The STC is shipped with the tubing bent to fit and attached to the fuel pumps as an assembly. Wiring looms for 24 volt models are also pre-fabricated. Installation on 12 volt models takes approximately four to six hours. Installation on 24 volt models takes approximately twice as long.

The STC for 12 volt models sells for $2475.00. For 24 volt models $3475.00.
