At the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo 2014, ANN News Editor Tom Patton took the opportunity to learn more about CubCrafters variation of the famous Piper Cub. To get his questions answered, Tom met with Randy Lervold, the General Manager of CubCrafters. Lervold said their customers want the fun of flying a classic taildragger airplane, and the popularity of CubCrafters variation has proved successful.
However, success does not mean you stop innovating. CubCrafters continues to improve their airplane with changes in the instrument panel and engine installation. When Tom asked about the combination of the low-and-slow classic design with modern avionics, Lervold replied that it is what most of their customers want. With CubCrafters, you end up with what is a really modern Cub while enjoying the charm of being a “classic aviator."
If you have a love for the good old days of basic flying and have a hankering for the backcountry experience, this video is a good place to start. With CubCrafters, the good old days are back.
