Constant Aviation Expands AMT Apprentice Openings

Constant Has Increased Full-Time AMT Pay By 10% in 2022

Constant Aviation of Cleveland, Ohio has announced a series of changes hoped to entice additional students, workers, and apprentices into the AMT fold.

The company offers a combined work and learning program that places apprentices alongside experienced aircraft technicians working the line, combining their work time with daily classroom lessons and lab courses. The method allows students to continue to earn an income while attending school and building their skill base in preparation to take the FAA Airframe Certification test.

In addition to the apprenticeship expansion, Constant has increased full-time AMT pay by 10% in 2022, which they say puts them in the top 1% of the industry. The dearth of qualified maintenance, repair, and overhaul personnel is only getting worse , with openings all over the country. Hungry to keep a competitive hiring edge, Constant has announced a $15,000 signing bonus for former military service technicians. Additional signing bonuses for non-veterans go up to $8,000 for aircraft-on-ground techs, paid after their first full year with the company. Constant eagerly courts former military servicemen, with over 40% of their workforce being prior service themselves.

For those without certification but with plenty of will to learn, Constant Aviation has expanded the scale of its hybrid education and work program. The Maintenance Apprenticeship Program  is held at its main MRO facilities in Cleveland, Ohio and Orlando, Florida.

Constant does not require prior aviation experience (though it never hurts to have some measure of mechanical knowledge), and apprentices will become full-time, regular employees of Constant Aviation, eligible for benefits while earning an hourly wage. As they advance through the program, apprentices are eligible for pay increases as they attain certain metrics for success.

“With the private aviation industry experiencing record growth, rising demand for technical work on aircraft has squeezed MRO staffing industrywide,” said David H. Davies, Constant Aviation’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are meeting the demand through initiatives including an expanded Maintenance Apprenticeship Program that gives prospective technicians the experience and skills they need for careers in aviation through on-the-job training and classroom and online education.”
