UAV Featured On CSI New York

TAG! You're It!

Last week's episode of CSI New York featured a Tactical Aerospace Group UAV as a futuristic law enforcement tool. A TAG "C" type UAV helicopter was shown flying through the New York skyline. The UAV represented a weaponized helicopter with .30 caliber guns, video and thermal vision, and a laser target acquisition system.

TAG tells ANN that similar UAVs could be used in the very near future as major police departments seek to integrate these new tools into their departments. UAVs could be used to assist with surveillance, patrols, incident response, and even homeland defense. The remotely operated aircraft can free up existing helicopters for more pressing issues. It also provides an aerial solution to departments that can't afford a full size helicopter.

The TAG UAVs can be transported by SUV, van, or Trailer, and deployed in minutes to hover over an incident to provide video or thermal imagery. They can also be used as a communications repeater or a local WiFi Hub.

Sound too futuristic? The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the FBI and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) used a TAG UAV at the Academy Awards in February to help provide security. The helicopter provided a live video feed that was transmitted to a handheld PDA style unit that could be carried by any security personnel on the ground.
