Stage III Technologies announced today that it received final
FAA approval for its patented Gulfstream G II and G III stage 3
hushkit. The hushkit reduces noise to the 70-73 dBA level
(depending on model), thus permitting operations at all airports
serving the Gulfstream fleet at any time at maximum weight
regardless of the imposition of noise curfews.
What appears to be good news for both US Airways and America
West in their planned merger could end up being bad news for the
entire airline industry, some analysts warned, because the
newly-proposed company will use capacity that might otherwise have
ended up in the boneyard.
IAMA Leader Says US Airways Bankruptcy Was Ruse To Dump Labor
Agreements
Bill Wise smells something fishy.
The US Airways mechanic and vice president of the machinists' union
at US Airways' hub in Charlotte said Friday he believed the
company's merger with America West was the real reason behind its
second bankruptcy filing.
What's in a name? In the merger between the US Airways and
America West, the decision to slap the US Airways moniker on the
new entity could wind up as a liability, according to some
analysts.
The company that would be formed by merging US Airways and
America West has a lot of outside investors -- each one with its
own hopes for a return on investment. In the case of Airbus, the
airplane manufacturer is looking for nothing less than a launch
partner.
The Visual Warning System being fielded by North American
Aerospace Command (NORAD), in coordination with the FAA and the Air
Force Rapid Capabilities Office, will become operational Saturday,
May 21, 2005.
Petersen Aviation, Inc. has announced that their auto fuel STC
for the Piper PA-28 series has been amended to include the Cadet,
Warrior II & III and Archer II & III.
The US House of Representatives passed two pieces of homeland
security legislation this week, each containing language mandating
the resumption of on-demand air charter and general aviation
operations at DCA.
A battle now looming in Washington could be felt far out in
Earth orbit. It's a battle over whether the US should weaponize or
otherwise protect its vital satellites from attack.
Next Phase Of Battlefield Surveillance And Recon System To Be
Tested
US forces operating in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere may soon
be able to use "MAJIIC" to locate an enemy position on the
battlefield and share intelligence information and imagery with
coalition allies in near-real time.
Gulfstream Aerospace has received a fourth FAA STC, enabling the
installation of its new ultra-high-speed Broad Band Multi-Link
(BBML) data system in the G450 and the G350.
"Meat on the butcher block. That's a good way to put it."

Bill Wise in an interview with ANN shortly before the merger
between US Airways and America West was announced Thursday,
describing how his members feel about being left out of the loop on
talks between the airlines. Wise, a US Airways mechanic, said
union leaders were told nothing of the merger talks until news of
the negotiations reached the media. He said he was shocked to learn
that the negotiations had been conducted in secret for 14
months.
