Another Successful Flight For New Shepard

Suborbital Mission Live-Tweeted By Jeff Bezos Saturday

Blue Origin completed another successful launch of its New Shepard booster, the third suborbital flight for the launch vehicle.

On its website, Blue Origin stated that "New Shepard flew again on April 2, 2016 reaching an apogee of 339,178 feet or 103 kilometers. It was the third flight with the same hardware. We pushed the envelope on this flight, restarting the engine for the propulsive landing only 3,600 feet above the ground, requiring the BE-3 engine to start fast and ramp to high thrust fast."

The flight lasted about 11 minutes, according to Geekwire. Bezos provided a running commentary about the flight on Twitter for his followers.

The flight carried research payloads from the University of Central Florida and the Southwest Research Institute in a crew capsule that Bezos hopes will carry humans on future suborbital flights. The company hopes to be carrying paying passengers on suborbital flights by 2018.
