TSA Officers Arrested In Miami

Accused Of Trashing A Hotel Room In South Beach, Gunplay

A pair of TSA officers were arrested by Miami Beach police Tuesday night and charged with criminal mischief and use of a firearm while under the influence.

The two man had rented a hotel room in South Beach, and authorities said the room was "trashed." At some point during the evening, one of the men fired a semi-automatic pistol through the hotel room window. The round penetrated a hurricane-resistant pane of glass at a nearby retail store and ripped through some jeans in a stockroom. The store was closed at the time of the incident, and no one was injured.

The two men under arrest are Jeffrey Piccolella, 27, and Nicholas Anthony Puccio, 25, according to a report in the Miami Herald. A TSA spokesman said the two were part-time officers who were not on agency business in Miami. Piccolella has been with the agency two years, and Puccio just a year. “TSA holds its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards,” TSA said in a statment. “We will review the facts and take appropriate action as necessary.”
