The U.S. Senate has passed and sent to the U.S. House an FAA reauthorization bill that does not include the House's controversial plan to privatize Air Traffic Control ... and the leadership of the Senate Commerce Committee passed along a subtle warning to House leaders about the plan after the vote.

Sen. Bill Nelson said, “We’ve given the House a good bi-partisan blueprint to follow and one that they ought to pass easily. Adding controversial measures could put the bill in jeopardy and result in a big loss for consumers and for the safety of the flying public.” The bill reauthorizes the FAA through fiscal year 2017. A Federal Express worker on the overnight shift wound up taking an unexpected trip from Tennessee to Texas along with the packages he was supposed to be loading. The worker, who was not identified, was loading packages in Memphis when he apparently fell asleep at about 4 am last Friday, according to a report from TV station KJTV. He woke up about half way to Lubbock, and tried to get the attention of the crew. As EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 gets closer we’ll be priming the excitement pump by providing you with a heads-up about featured events. This update is to tell you that The Valdez STOL Invitational at Oshkosh will be returning to AirVenture in 2016 with a new location at the Ultralight strip for attendees to view the flights up close. It’s this up close and personal view that makes this part of AirVenture so much fun. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
