Plane Thief, Drunk Pilot Sentenced

Will Spend Six Years In Prison

A Texas man who got drunk on his 21st birthday and stole a Cessna 172, crashing it into power lines, was sentenced to six years in prison Monday.

Louis Paul Kadlecek pleaded guilty to felony theft Monday in a Brazoria County district court, according to local media reports.

The aircraft crashed in a field after hitting power lines near the Brazoria County Airport (TX). As ANN reported at the time, local officials were at a loss -- nothing like this had ever happened before at that airport. FBI agents joined the investigation, which led to Kadlecek. Although he wasn't hurt in the incident, the crash knocked out power to about 11,000 homes and businesses.
