Finally! Someone (Besides ANN) Is Ready To Face LSA Reality
At the Redbird Migration 2013 meeting, EAA Chairman of the Board, Jack Pelton took questions from many of the attendees during his forum presentation. One question asked was (yes, by ANN); is it time for the FAA to revamp the light sport aircraft certification regulations? Pelton’s short answer to that question was yes; changes need to be made.
Pelton addressed three areas that he thinks need attention. One of these areas related directly to the way equipment changes can be made to an aircraft that is certified as a special- light sport.
Over and above LSA certification, he also addressed changes needed in medical regulations that would allow pilots without a medical to fly certain aircraft that do not meet the LSA definition. Another area he addressed is creating a new certification standard under FAR part 23 that would promote a simpler certification of light aircraft.
