Aero-TV: First Look -- The Garmin GTN 650 and GTN 750

Let's Get A FIRST LOOK At Garmin's New Touch-Screen Enabled GTN 650 and GTN750

In advance of the public unveiling of the new Garmin GTN 650 and GTN 750, ANN's Aero-TV crews were invited to take an advance look at the latest new offerings from the wizards of Olathe, KS. It has been some 13 years since Garmin GNS 430 and GNS 530 were introduced to go on to sell some 110,000 units, worldwide. While the 430 and 530 will live on for the foreseeable future, the GTN series is obviously designed to take their place in the future Garmin line-up.

We had the chance to get some tutelage in the ways of the GTN 650/750 under the watchful eye of Garmin's Jim Alpiser, as the 2011 AEA Convention started to get well under way. This was a great place to get a look at Garmin's next generation of cockpit 'Magic" as the AEA Convention & Trade Show is the preeminent venue dedicated solely to the general aviation avionics industry. N

ot open to the public, this event’s primary focus is providing avionics professionals with educational and marketing opportunities between equipment manufacturers, distributors and government-certified repair stations.

The GTN 650 and GTN 750 received FAA TSO authorization in March and are STC approved on a broad model list covering most Part 23 fixed wing aircraft.

The first units will be available for purchase at Lakeland, March 29 to April 3, 2011. The GTN 650 is expected to be available at a suggested retail price of $11,495 and the GTN 750 is expected to be available at a suggested retail price of $16,995.
