Quality Sport Planes (QSP) Under New Ownership

Changing Of The Guard For Zenith Aircraft Company’s West Coast Representative

Quality Sport Planes LLC (QSP), the longtime Zenith Aircraft representative on the west coast, is under new management ownership. QSP has been representing Zenith Aircraft kits in the western United States for 15 years and hosts one of the largest Zenith fly-ins in the country every year. Based at the Cloverdale Municipal Airport (O60) in Northern California, the business was founded in 2005 as an independent distributor for Zenith Aircraft Company, the largest manufacturer of light sport aircraft kits in the U.S. based in Missouri.

Headed by Doug Dugger for the past 10 years, officials have announced that Ivan Gromala will be taking over Quality Sport Planes after Dugger’s retirement later this month.

“Ivan recently spent time at the Zenith factory, and we are very happy to know he will be heading QSP in the future” said Sebastien Heintz, Zenith Aircraft Co. president. “Ivan shares our passion for flying and building light sport aircraft, and is committed to providing Zenith builders and owners with personalized service.”

Mr. Gromala’s intentions are to continue developing QSP as an active builder-assist center in the region and to make sure Zenith kits are well represented at small regional fly-ins as well as at larger events such as “Copperstate” in the South and “Arlington” in the Northwest. Gromala is an active pilot and has built several Zenith kits himself, and he looks forward to supporting new and existing Zenith builders in California and the western United States.

Quality Sport Planes will hold its annual fly-in and Open House this coming Saturday, June 22, from 10 am - 4 pm at the company’s hangar at Cloverdale Municipal Airport (O60). Ivan Gromala looks forward to meeting with Zenith Aircraft builders, pilots and enthusiasts at the event. This will also be an opportunity for farewells to retiring Doug Dugger (fondly called “Douger”). Zenith Aircraft Company’s Heintz will also be participating at the Open House and fly-in event.
