Vintage Guitar Belonging To Bryan Adams Defaced At Egyptian Airport

Customs Officers In Cairo Reportedly Scrawled Graffiti On The Instrument

Canadian rock musician Bryan Adams says customs officials in Cairo, Egypt defaced his vintage 1946 Martin D-18 guitar with graffiti written in green ink on the instrument.

Adams was traveling from Cairo, where he had performed a concert at the Giza pyramids, to Australia. Once he arrived there, he discovered the graffiti on his guitar, according to a report in the Toronto Sun.

Adams posted a photo of the instrument on Instagram. He said that he had not received an apology from Egyptian authorities.

On Facebook, Adams told his Egyptian fans that he would be back despite his issues with the government.

"Thank you for writing about the guitar, I really appreciate it, it will be fixed no problem," Adams wrote on the social media site. "I want you all to know that I love your country and we had an amazing time there, we felt at home.

"The incident of defacing our instruments at airport customs is annoying, but it needed to be said. Much love to you all and look forward to bringing my family to visit you one day soon... next time no green markers please!"
