Skydiving Plane Down In California

All 18 Aboard Survive The Accident

A Cessna 208 with 18 people on board went down in a vineyard in northern California Thursday, and while the airplane was substantially damaged, only the pilot suffered minor injuries in the accident

The Los Angeles Times reports that the aircraft had departed from Lodi Municipal Airport about 1400 local time, but had engine trouble just after takeoff, according to FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.

The pilot attempted to return to the airport, but impacted a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck as it descended. It reportedly flipped over onto its back about a quarter mile from the airport in the vineyard in rural San Joaquin County near Acampo.

FAA records indicate that the 208 is owned by Flanagan Enterprises Inc., which is based in Nevada. The owner could not be reached, according to the paper.
