Adds Boeing 737 NextGen FTD To The Holleman-Niswonger Simulator Center
Purdue Polytechnic Institute continues to expand its pilot training for students with the addition of a new, high-level flight simulator to the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology (SATT).
A Boeing 737 NexGen jet flight training device recently was installed in the Holleman-Niswonger Simulator Center at Purdue University Airport. The simulator was manufactured by MPS, a company from the Netherlands.
The simulator is qualified for training at a high level under FAA regulations. The quality of simulation and training provided will reduce the amount of flight hours required for students.
The flight training device is the second MPS simulator added to Purdue’s aviation program. A Hawker 900XP simulator was installed in late August, making the aviation school one of a select few offering the device as part of its program.
“With the acquisition of the two MPS devices, Purdue is well positioned to optimize its technology, giving our students an unparalleled competitive advantage in the aviation industry,” said Manoj Patankar, head of SATT. “Our distinctive industry partnerships will position our students for advanced standing with airlines and business aviation partners.”
In addition, Purdue and MPS have agreed to develop training based on MPS’ knowledge of the global aviation training industry.
Capt. Philip Adrian, chief executive officer of MPS, said Purdue students using the new flight simulators “will have significant opportunities with major U.S. carriers immediately after graduation.”
