Droner's Manual, Second Edition Now Available

UAV Guidebook Walks Drone Operators Through Building to Operation

ASA's 2nd edition of The Droner’s Manual compacts the most important and relevant knowledge of drone operation into a single guidebook.

Author Kevin Jenkins walks would-be pilots through the needful for UAV operators looking to break into hobbyist, enterprise, or government operation. Jenkins includes stepwise guidance on building, programming, testing, and flying multirotor, fixed-wing, and hybrid frame aircraft for nearly any purpose. The comprehensive manual continues on to cover the essential system components of an uncrewed aircraft, with sections on setup, fundamentals, failsafes, flight testing, and operations.

The new edition incorporates a variety of new regulations and changes that affect the UAV industry, like remote identification requirements, or The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST). Interestingly, advances in battery tech are also included, as well as GPS troubleshooting, photography, sensing, and PID tuning. The book includes more than 70 illustrations providing detailed schematics and diagrams for the construction of complex systems, allowing readers to design and create a suitable first-person view (FPV) apparatus or imaging payload.

Included with the book are a number of mission planning, checklist, and safe flight documents to help provide structure for UAV flight operations. Whether used as a builder's introduction for a home-grown drone, or a backseat reference guide for enterprising drone service operators, the Droner's Manual is worth a read.

Readers will fly with confidence applying this book’s direction on mission planning, checklists, and safe flight operations. Whether it is used to build an unmanned aircraft or as a handy reference in the field, The Droner’s Manual is essential for drone builders, pilots, and operators.

The Droner's Manual comes in eBook or softcover, priced between $19.95 - $24.95 at distributing FBOs or online.
