Airplane Owner Finds Bullet Hole, Bullet In His Airplane

Round Penetrated Hangar Roof, Airplane

You think your airplane is pretty safe in its hangar, but Cessna 182 owner Tim Hartwick of North Little Rock, AR no longer has that peace of mind.

That's because Hartwick recently found a .45 caliber bullet in his airplane ... accompanied by a hole in the engine cowl and a hole in the hangar roof. And no one knows how or why the shot may have been fired.

North Little Rock Airport Director Clay Rogers said at first, he thought it was the result of someone firing into the air, and chance brought the bullet down on the airport property, puncturing the hangar roof and Hartwick's airplane. But he told ArkansasMatters.com that authorities told him that it was unlikely that gravity alone could have caused to bullet to penetrate both the hangar roof and the airplane's cowling. That only leaves someone firing a shot from above the hangar towards the ground.

Police so far have no suspects. The airplane and the hangar appear to be the only damage from the incident.
