Classic Aero-TV: Vital Connections -- Bendix King Aerowave

From 2015: Communications, Even in The Midst Of Transportation, Remains A CRITICAL Biz-Tool

An important issue in business aviation is called connectivity. Business flyers need to stay connected for business and Bendix King is offering some solutions.

While at the 2014 NBAA Business Aviation Convention, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, met with Jim Zanino, the BendixKing vice president of sales, to talk about AeroWave. Simply put, AeroWave is the Bendix King system that allows business travelers to stay in contact while in flight.

Zanino says the idea behind AirWave was to provide Internet connectivity at a price point suitable for the benefits received. He points out that connectivity alone is not the only factor; the data plan is also important. The AirWave plan allows data block times to be purchased at a fixed cost to eliminate billing surprises. Charges against the block time only occur when the system is actually being used. A simple switch on and off starts and stops the timer for data plan use.

Zanino goes on to explain how they developed the product, costs for the product and installation, and what to expect in performance. He also gave us a hint that a follow-on AirWave system may be developed for lower-end aircraft.

Aero-TV is a production of the Internationally syndicated Aero-News Network. Seen worldwide by hundreds of thousands of aviators and aviation adherents, Aero-TV has produced nearly 2000 aviation and feature programs, including several hundred episodes of our thrice-weekly aviation news program, AIRBORNE, hosted by Ashley Hale. Parent company, Aero-News Network, has the most aggressive and intensive editorial profile of any aviation news organization and has published nearly 200,000 news and feature stories since its inception -- having pioneered the online 24/7 aviation new-media model that so many have emulated.
