Rajay Turbo STCs Change Hands

Deal Affects 49 STCs, for Beech, Piper, Cessna, Aero Commander, Others

Wind Dancer Aviation Services, Inc. has acquired 49 airframe and engine STCs for Rajay turbo normalizing kits for various types of general aviation aircraft, including, but not limited to, Beechcraft, Piper, Cessna and Aero Commander.

The acquisition also includes general aviation aircraft parts and inventory for a total purchase price of $60,000. The seller is Kelly Aerospace Power Systems, Inc. of Montgomery, Alabama. In addition, Wind Dancer has become a Full Line Distributor for Kelly Aerospace, with regard to its various general aviation parts and supplies and, as such, is part of an elite group which buys products for distribution at a favorable discount compared to other FBOs. Kelly, which has been in business over 20 years, is a leading manufacturer of components for piston and turbine aircraft and a major force in the general aviation community.

The acquisition allows Wind Dancer to work on development and marketing of turbo normalizing kits and installation of the STC-covered parts on general aviation aircraft, a market of over 10,000 aircraft in the U.S. alone. Historically, competitive kits have sold in the $25,000 to $42,000 range. This step out allows Wind Dancer to support its existing customer base with a full range of general aviation parts and will generate increased business through STC production and installations as customer demand builds.

Wind Dancer, which commenced operation as the FBO at Stevens Field in Pagosa Springs (CO) in December, 2002, is poised for significant growth due to the acquisition. Initially, the FBO will supply parts to existing Rajay equipped aircraft customers. Wind Dancer is now able to supply to customers Rajay parts to be installed either at their local FBOs or at Wind Dancer. The next step will be to put the redesigned kits based on revisions to the STCs back into production with improvements, with the first design revision to be for the Twin Commander 500B, U and S models.
