Rockwell Collins Expands FANS 1/A Capability In Business Jet Aftermarket

Upgrade Offered For Falcon 50EX And Falcon 2000/2000EX Aircraft

Dassault Falcon 50EX, Falcon 2000 and Falcon 2000EX aircraft currently equipped with Rockwell Collins avionics and flight management system now have an upgrade path for Future Airspace Navigation System (FANS) 1/A capability. The enhancements will be available from Rockwell Collins in 2015.

“We’re committed to keeping our customer base up-to-date for flying in modernized airspace around the globe, and FANS 1/A provides significant benefits for transiting the North Atlantic,” said Craig Olson, vice president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins.

By enabling access to preferred, wind-efficient transatlantic routes, Rockwell Collins’ FANS 1/A upgrade saves operators both time and fuel. Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract (ADS-C) and Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), which together make up the FANS package, also reduce pilot workload and significantly enhance the clarity and accuracy of pilot communications with Air Navigation Service Providers in oceanic and remote airspace worldwide.

For Falcon operators, FANS 1/A further enhances the value of Rockwell Collins’ popular Pro Line 4-to-Pro Line 21 upgrade, joining a growing list of features including WAAS LPV, graphical weather, electronic charts, and a soon-to-be released synthetic vision option.
