OU Wins Again

Beats Texas On Field And On Tarmac

By ANN Senior Editor Pete Combs

You know, it's mighty hard work trying to figure out how to work a plug for your son's college into an aviation journal. Here's my attempt:

Just before SHUTTING OUT the University of Texas 12-0 Saturday (pause... gloat... continue), Oklahoma University beat UT on the airport ramp as well.

A group of Southwest Airline workers at Love Field, representing the Sooners, beat their counterparts representing the Longhorns in an airplane pulling contest. They were able to tug an 83,000 pound 737 across the finish line faster, proving once and for all the innate superiority of Oklahomans over their neighbors to the south (I hear those Longhorn fans typing furious replies even before I finish this).

As is the case every year, the OU-Texas game sees thousands of Sooner fans cross the Red River to cheer on their favorite college team. The only problem is, when the Sooners win, you really have to obey the traffic laws on the way home -- those Texas troopers get a might bit surly when faced with defeat.
