Pilot Stranded In Mexico After Thieves Make Off With Helo

They Were Supposed To Be Armed With Cameras, Not Guns

What a way to start the week. Eduardo Merito was just doing his job Monday morning and found himself stranded for his trouble.

Merito was the pilot of a rented Bell 206 (type shown above) scheduled to pick up what his contract said was a group of photographers wanting to get some aerial photographs in the state of Hidalgo, according to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

When he landed to pick up his customers, he was met by three people. But, these people were armed not with cameras, but with guns.

Merito said his "customers" threatened him and ordered him out of the aircraft. The group then loaded up and took off leaving Merito stranded.

Mexican police have not located the stolen helo.
